Video Poker is a favored game that can be played in casinos across the world, or alternatively at your house on your home computer, using a web account. The regulations are very simple and consist of the player attempting to get the highest mixture of cards possible in order to acquire money. In this respect it’s very similar as a regular game of poker, without the interaction with any other players. The game of Video Poker begins when the gambler inserts credits (whether it is tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and presses the deal button. A 5 card hand will then be "dealt" on the screen.

The Video Poker game also has hold buttons, and bettors will need to now pick which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the gambler wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.

After the player has decided on which cards she would like to keep, they should press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards are needed they will be given out. The game is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payment schedule.

Generally, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the payout schedule can change from game to game, so that discerning bettors are able to select the most profitable game each and every time.

Once the initial round has completed, the player can either choose to remain on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that might been won. Additionally, a few versions of the game allow the gambler an opportunity to double their profits, in which situation a further game is played. There are also differences among individual games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
