How to Play Video Poker

Electronic Poker is a favored game that can be gambled on in casinos throughout the world, or alternatively at home on your PC, using a web connection. The rules are absolutely straightforward and involve the player attempting to achieve the greatest mixture of cards possible in order to come away with money. In this respect it’s much the same as a classic game of poker, without the involvement with any other players. The game of Electronic Poker starts when the player puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the machine and presses the play button. A hand of five cards will be "dealt" on the video screen.

The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and enthusiasts will need to now decide which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the player would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.

After the enthusiast has selected which cards he would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards are needed they will be given out. The round is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.

Normally, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the pay out schedule can vary from game to game, so that knowledgeable players are able to pick the most beneficial ones each instance.

After the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to stay on and try to to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Further, some styles of the game give the enthusiast an opportunity to double their winnings, in which case another game is played. There are also differences among individual games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing aspects to increase playability.
