Video Poker is a favored game that can be played in casinos across the globe, or alternatively at your house on your home computer, using an Internet connection. The rules are absolutely straightforward and consist of the player attempting to get the best mixture of cards achievable in order to win money. In this respect it’s very similar as a classic game of poker, minus the line of contact with any other players. Of course, methods employed during a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the bettor inserts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and presses the play button. A five card hand will be electronically ‘given out’ on the screen.
The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and bettors will need to now choose which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the player would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.
After the bettor has chosen which cards she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any fresh cards are given out if desired. The game is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the payment schedule.
Generally, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the payout schedule can change from machine to machine, so that knowledgeable players are agile enough to choose the most profitable ones each time.
Once the first round has completed, the player can either choose to continue on and try to to maximize their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that they may have won. Additionally, a few styles of the game allow the player an opportunity to double their profits, in which case a further round is played. There are also differences among individual games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing elements to increase playability.
